I’m an avid traveller, as well as a yoga instructor and general wellness enthusiast! Stepping into a different culture, slowing down, and immersing myself in new surroundings creates a unique form of healing, one that perfectly complements a yoga practice. Travel allows you to reconnect with yourself, gain fresh perspective, and experience a sense of calm, inspiration, and gratitude.
Over the years, my adventures have taken me to some incredible corners of the world, each offering its own way to nourish the body, calm the mind, and inspire the soul. I’ve discovered that the perfect wellness break isn’t just about luxurious spas or retreats - it's about the atmosphere, the culture, and the rhythm of life that allows you to slow down and truly be present. Here are some of my all-time favourite destinations to inspire your next adventure!
Ubud, Bali – The Heart of Balinese Wellness

Ubud is a magical place where wellness isn’t just a concept, it’s a way of life. The town is dotted with yoga studios, meditation centres, and wholesome cafes serving delicious plant-based meals. Walking through the streets, you’ll notice offerings and rituals everywhere: incense burning, temple ceremonies, and locals moving through their day with a sense of mindfulness and gratitude.
For me, Ubud feels like a reset button. Practising yoga here, surrounded by lush rice terraces and serene jungle, is grounding. And the food! From smoothie bowls to fresh coconut waters and delicious Balinese cuisine, eating healthy feels effortless. Ubud perfectly blends spirituality, culture, and wellness into an experience that stays with you long after you leave.
Gili Islands, Indonesia – Island Life at Its Most Relaxed

The Gili Islands - Gili Air, Gili Trawangan (affectionately known as Gili T) and Gili Meno - are paradise for anyone looking to disconnect. With no cars or motorbikes, the pace of life slows down instantly. You can cycle along sandy paths, swim with turtles, or simply relax by the turquoise water with a book in hand.
The islands have a small, laid-back yoga community and some lovely wellness retreats, making them ideal for combining your practice with pure island bliss. The energy here is playful yet peaceful, perfect for those who want to reconnect with nature and themselves.
Thailand – Mindful Vibes Across the Islands

Thailand has always held a special place in my heart - it was the first country on my first backpacking adventure, and a location I have returned to again and again. From the mountains to the oceans, its islands and culture exude calm, friendliness, and mindfulness. Koh Phangan may be famous for its full-moon parties, but there are pockets of serenity where yoga, meditation, and wellness retreats flourish. Koh Samui blends luxury with nature, offering beautiful beaches and wellness hubs. Koh Chang, meanwhile, is a tropical jungle paradise where quiet beaches and hidden waterfalls make it feel like your own secret retreat.

What makes Thailand truly special is how its deep-rooted Buddhist values shine through in everyday life. Temples are everywhere, often tucked into bustling towns or serene landscapes, and visiting them is a reminder to slow down, reflect, and connect with the present moment. You’ll see monks going about their daily routines, locals offering alms, and the gentle rhythm of ritual and devotion woven into everyday life. Even simply walking past a temple can inspire mindfulness and gratitude.
For me, exploring Thailand is about more than just yoga or wellness - it’s about immersing yourself in a culture that celebrates mindfulness, presence, and kindness. Whether it’s meditating at sunrise, wandering through lush jungle paths, or observing daily life around a temple, Thailand always leaves me feeling grounded, inspired, and at peace.
Sapa, Vietnam – Mystical Mountains & Waterfalls

For a wellness escape in the mountains, Sapa is unforgettable. Terraced rice fields, misty peaks, and cascading waterfalls create a landscape that feels almost otherworldly. Trekking through the mountains, visiting local hill tribes, or simply meditating amidst nature brings a sense of grounding and awe. Sapa is a place to reconnect with the earth and let the natural rhythm of life inspire your practice.

Malaysia – A Mix of Culture, Islands & Serenity
Malaysia offers a diverse range of wellness experiences - from the cultural charm of Georgetown in Penang to the tropical beauty of Langkawi, Tioman, and Kapas islands. Georgetown is perfect for foodies and culture lovers (prepare to eat your way through the place!), while the islands are all about serenity: palm-lined beaches, crystal-clear waters, and slow-paced island life ideal for yoga, meditation, or simply recharging your batteries.
Greek Islands – Mediterranean Wellness at Its Finest
The Greek islands combine stunning landscapes, sunshine, and the restorative Mediterranean lifestyle. Corfu, Crete, and Kefalonia are my favourites for wellness holidays. Imagine yoga sessions at sunrise overlooking the Aegean Sea, followed by fresh, locally sourced meals and afternoons wandering charming towns or relaxing on secluded beaches. The Greek islands perfectly blend adventure, culture, and wellbeing.

Spanish Islands – Sunshine, Outdoors & Laid-Back Energy
Spain’s islands - Majorca, Fuerteventura, and Tenerife - offer a vibrant yet relaxed environment for wellness. Outdoor yoga, hiking, and surfing combine beautifully with tapas, fresh produce, and plenty of sunshine. The Spanish islands are perfect for those who want active days balanced with relaxation and mindful living.
For me, a true wellbeing getaway isn’t just about where you go, it’s about how a place makes you feel. Each of these destinations has offered me a chance to slow down, reconnect with myself, and experience life with more gratitude and presence. Whether it’s the incense-infused streets of Ubud, the serene beaches of the Gili Islands, the tropical jungles of Koh Chang, the mystical mountains of Sapa, or the sun-soaked shores of the Greek and Spanish islands, these places have a way of nourishing the soul and inspiring your wellbeing practice.
Wherever you choose to go, remember that wellness is as much about your mindset as it is about your surroundings. Travel slowly, breathe deeply, and allow yourself to be fully present - your mind, body, and soul will seriously thank you for it.
